RE and Worship

Christian Values

As a Church of England Primary school, we are extremely proud of our strong Christian distinctiveness. Our mission and vision is firmly rooted in school life and extends to everything that we do.

Our mission is to love all children who are part of our community, helping them develop tolerance, respect and self-confidence and be the best they can be.

We support our children, encouraging them to hold life-long passion for learning which will successfully lead them into secondary school and beyond. As a church school, our work is underpinned by the Christian values of generosity, compassion, courage, forgiveness, friendship and respect which Jesus helps us to achieve.

We strive to provide a rich and varied curriculum which reflects God’s concern for the whole child; promoting spiritual, moral, cultural, physical and emotional wellbeing alongside academic excellence and independence.

Our school vision is shared by all based on the following scripture which inspires our community to grow together in Christ our Saviour, to love one another, to reach out in witness to our neighbours, live in peace with one another and promote life in all its fullness:

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, all your mind and with all your strength and love your neighbour as yourself" Mark 12:30-31.

The daily act of collective worship is viewed as an integral part of school life; a time where we come together to share our love of God and celebrate our achievements together. The contributions of staff, pupils, church clergy and other visitors are highly welcome and together we acknowledge and reflect in God's word and the teachings of Jesus.

School Chaplain

We are delighted to have Mrs Tracey Williams as our School Chaplain here at Oxton St Saviours. Tracey has been part of our school family for many years having worked within F2, Year 1 and Year 3 as a Teaching Assistant. The role as Chaplain has been agreed by the PCC at church and the governing body at school. Based at Oxton St Saviour's Parish Church as Children and Families’ worker, Tracey has worked alongside the staff and parents to develop strong links between church, school and home.

As well as organising Messy Church and Youth Group, fortnightly Bible Study Sessions are held in school as well as the NextGen Disciples Year 6. Confirmation classes are held every year for children in Year 6 also.

Our children flourish when exploring their faith with Tracey - we are very lucky to have her.
